Firefox Celebrates 1 BILLION Downloads
The Firefox browser just reached over 1 billion downloads. As of this writing, downloads have reached more than 1,005,622,000.
Mozilla, the developers of Firefox, have setup a website to celebrate at 1,000,000,000 + You. You can keep track of the current download count at the Spread Firefox website.
It is turning out to be quite the summer for Firefox. Version 3.5 of the browser was downloaded 4 million times within 24 hours of its release and 75 million times overall this summer. According to StatCounter, the browser currently has a market share exceeding 33.7%, a huge increase from the beginning of the year. While Firefox has been busy increasing its market share, Internet Explorer has been steadily losing share.
What this means to you is that you absolutely must be testing your website in Firefox, ensuring full compatibility with every update you make to your site.
